Description:

This online module covers the biology of plants grown for food, fiber, fuel and fun. Participants learn the mechanisms plants use to drive and control their growth, propagate, and change to compete with other organisms in their environment. Plant lifecycles in managed ecosystems and their role in global carbon and water cycles are also discussed.

Delivery:

This module has both a resident on-campus section and an online section. Lectures will be presented in a class and online learners may participate in the lectures during “real time” and/or view the taped, archived lectures online.

Requirements:

High-speed Internet access with an updated browser, email and ability to view videos. Recommended browsers include Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari.

Textbooks:

eBook textbook for approximately $93. All other materials are available via the Internet on Blackboard and/or the Plant & Soil Science eLibrary websites.

Prerequisites:

Individuals taking the module will want to be enrolled in the Department of Agronomy & Horticulture’s Plant Breeding & Genetics professional graduate certificate.
