Module Schedule

Starting Jan. 1, 2017, the Plant Breeding and Genetics program is revising its core and elective program to have seven (7) core units and five (5) elective units in our certificate. Learners in the previous six (6) core and six (6) elective program may stay with that system is desired. Just let Kathy Schindler, kschindler1@unl.edu, administrative associate, know and she will record that in the certificate database.

Modules in the online Plant Breeding and Genetics Professional Certificate program are taught by the expert faculty of the UNL Department of Agronomy and Horticulture. Modules last between 5-16 weeks, and are entirely online.

To earn the professional certificate, learners must complete 12 units, including 7 core units and 5 elective units. The cost per unit ranges from $270 to $750. Review module descriptions and costs here. Learners who are Certified Crop Advisor (CCAs) can also earn continuing education units (CEUs) for each module.

Refresher Modules

Learners who either need a review or a basic foundation in plant science and genetics can take one of three refresher modules. The units earned in these refresher modules do not count toward earning the professional certificate, but they do provide professional continuing education units (CEUs) for learners who take them.
